An 8 acre farmstay, just off the road, north of Kaikoura. There are pigs, goats and alpacas and comfortable rooms. Great views of the Kaikoura range from the house. Just 7 minutes away from the town centre yet in a rural setting. Kevin is a wonderful host and humourous to boot. He and his son Liam have just taken the property over from the previous owner. We stayed here 2 nights, and if you have the opportunity to do so, do stay here! Kaikoura is a lovely place and Awatea is a perfect base for the area if you have a car

This B&B is the best place in Kaikoura and we visit Kaikoura a lot. We have enjoyed our stay a lot!!!!! Highlights: 1) Kevin is an incredible and welcoming host thank you so much for your hospitality. 2) Super clean!! 3) Great breakfast 4) Amazing location 5) Animals are super cute and friendly :) 6) Very quiet 7) Lovely toiletries: shampoo, shower gel, conditioner are from a lavender farm nearby which are of great quality. Thank you very much, we are definitely coming back

The owner is such a nice guy and took our kids with him to feed the chickens goats and pigs. The kids were so excited to help out! The rooms are beautiful and the bathroom is huge! Breakfaat was delicious and the view from the front porch is incredible. Stay here. It is stunning

I am very grateful that due to rockslides, my road trip was re-routed via Kaikoura. Arriving just before 5:00pm I quickly found and booked Awatea Country B&B online. Best decision EVER! From the moment I was greeted to the moment I drove away after my stay, I was incredibly impressed. Liam was welcoming, warm, genuine and wonderfully hospitable. The views were breathtaking, my “room” was a large and private area with sitting room and private ensuite with access to external deck and gardens. Lovely common area with hot drinks facilities, library and lounge. Large glass doors lead out to a paved area with surrounding gardens and overlooking the mountains. The breakfast was beautifully laid out and most importantly, while being practical was the perfect start to the day. I found the location on the outskirts of town a wonderful escape as all the benefits of country living but only approx 7 mins drive to access tourist spots, shops and restaurants (ask Liam about his favourite one). Overall my experience was simply food for my soul - Thank you Liam

From stargazing to looking at all the animals, this was a great place to stay. The room was very comfy and Allison, Buddy and Walnut were very welcoming. It is a very short drive out of town, but worth it. Great place to stay! Thanks
